Anime-Inspired Book Tracker Notion Template
A free, anime-inspired Notion book tracker that lets you organize your books into shelves. This minimalist, aesthetic Notion template is perfect for anyone seeking a basic library template.
This template does not include a daily reading tracker, but you're welcome to add one of your own! If you need help or inspiration, please reach out at π hello@melleesmith.com.
I initially made this template for my own use, and since I read a lot of non-fiction, the current shelves are mostly non-fiction genres. Below, I've provided a link that lets you make new shelf covers in Canva.
Keep reading for more information on how to customize this template. Happy reading! π
π "Currently reading" section
This gallery view of the Books database is filtered to show books marked as currently reading in the Status property.
This layout looks best with one book β if you're reading more than one at a time, you may want to adjust the card size or resize the picture to maintain a uniform look.
π "Days to finish current book" widget
This is an Indify widget that is editable in Notion. You will need to manually update it. So far, I haven't found another way around this.
If you'd like to customize this widget, you'll need to create an Indify account and make your own. In Notion, hover over the current widget, and click the three dot menu. Click Replace, then paste the link to your customized widget.
π Shelf covers
The shelf covers are made in Canva. To create new covers, you'll need a free Canva account.
π¨ Click here to access the Canva design π¨
To ensure fonts and colors remain consistent, click the "Duplicate page" icon within the design (at the top of each cover, next to the trash can icon). Then update the text, and voila!
π Book covers
To add book covers to your books, search for your book on the internet. Copy an image of the cover, then open the book page in Notion. Click Add cover, then Change cover, then Link. Paste in your link.
The Gallery view in the Books database is already set to Fit image so you can see the full cover.
π Exporting books from Goodreads
For my own template, I exported my books from Goodreads. Click here for a tutorial on how to do that.
To import the file in Notion, open your Books database. Click the three dot menu at the top right-hand corner of the page, then click Merge with CSV. Select your Goodreads export file.
β οΈ NOTE: Importing your books from Goodreads will add a lot of new properties to your Books database. I recommend opening the .CSV file in Excel/Google Sheets and removing the columns you don't want to add to your Notion database.
